Have a turnaround?Los Angeles will reassess whether to continue banning outdoor dine-in

Catering boss must read the blue words above

Previously, due to the rapid increase in the number of new crown cases in the South, the Los Angeles County Health Department implemented a three-week outdoor dine-in ban, which took effect on November 11.Los Angeles judge James Chalfant recently ruled that the county did not conduct the necessary risk analysis before making this decision; The county health department must reassess afterwards.

The California Restaurant Association and a restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles named Engine No. 28 filed a lawsuit against the ban.The judge wrote in the verdict that before the ban was implemented, the county did not weigh the benefits and costs of outdoor dining restrictions, but took arbitrary actions."The county's order to close restaurants indefinitely and arbitrarily should be prohibited," the judge said.

The outdoor dine-in ban in Los Angeles County will be reassessed around December 12.The judge did mention in the ruling that there is a surge in California's current cases. Although dine-in is risky, the evidence does not include outdoor dine-in. CDC's guidance stated that compared with indoor dine-in, the risk of outdoor transmission is lower.

Many owners and employees in the catering industry in Los Angeles strongly disagree with the ban on outdoor dining.Celebrity chef Ludo Lefebvre posted a video on his Instagram in which employees of his Los Angeles restaurant Petit Trois said that this was the last straw that overwhelmed the restaurant industry.

Although most areas of California are currently under a stay-at-home order,In addition to work and going to the supermarket, everyone needs to stay at home; restaurants, breweries and bars can only provide takeaway or delivery services.Effective in Southern California on December 12,The state order will also last at least three weeks. We can only hope that after Christmas, the stay-at-home order can be lifted, and the ban on restaurants can also be re-evaluated and open to outdoor dining.
