The report analyzed FBI crime data and the economic costs associated with crime to estimate the cost of crime in 302 large U.S. cities with a population of more than 10. The cost of crime is the economic loss that crime brings to society, the average cost to each resident.

as shown by data,Per capita economic loss due to crime in the U.S. is $2,221, the per capita loss caused by violent crime exceeds $2,000, while the per capita economic loss caused by property crime is approximately $198.
