What you didn't know about Venice

What you didn't know about Venice

On a Friday without work, I went to Venice Beach and revisited it.Venice Beach, famous for its "crazy people", is no stranger to my friends, but when I uploaded the photos to my friends circle, almost without exception, everyone's first comment was-"Where is this?!"

Let Miss Jesse take you to find a different Venice!

Venice Canals

Everything in Venice, California today is due to a rich man named Abbot Kinney. Abbot Kinney began buying land in Venice in 1884 and declared that he would turn this barren land into a cultural capital like Venice, Italy. So the canal began to be excavated, and small Venetian-style houses spread along the river. In 1905, "Venice of American" was officially opened to the public, including plank roads, gondolas, opera houses, and small trains. (Information and historical pictures from veniceofamerica.org)

Unfortunately, with the popularity of automobiles in the 20s, these rivers have been gradually filled in to make way for more modern transportation methods. It is gratifying that there are still some ruins left in the American-style Venice Canal more than 20 years ago.

The blue line displayed on Google Map is the canal left today. Take a walk along the canal, look at bungalows of different styles, dog walkers, and people trimming flowers and plants, and take beautiful photos on the bridge. You can always find some small surprises from time to time, such as lemon trees full of fruit, bald toys ravaged by puppies on the lawn, Dutch wooden clogs hanging in front of the house, and "dogwalk" warnings that people set up for their pets. Abbot Kinney Blvd.

If you go to Venice Beach and only visit the "Made-in-China Commodity Street" on the beach, you will miss too much!

You can also go to the more artistic, petty, more indie, and more hip Abbot Kinney Blvd.

Abbot Kinney Blvd inherits the unique style of the entire Venice area. GQ magazine once called it "the coolest block in America". Here you can find unique restaurants, art galleries, bars, boutiques, customized hats, and flower shops. It is a bit like Melrose, but more artistic than Melrose.

We chose a seemingly rude Bistro called Gjelina and ordered the signature Squash Blossom Pizza. The store is small and the line is long. Food is taken after ordering. There is no table or chair seat. There is an original patio outside. You can eat on a stone, wooden bench or plastic basket. For more menus, please refer to: http://www.gjelina.com/

Gjelina strictly abides by the No Substitutions principle. It is said that when David Beckham and his wife Victoria came to Gjelina for dinner, Victoria ordered a smoked trout salad, because they were pregnant with the fourth child, "Little Seven", so they made many special requests. , "Plain, unadorned, with the dressing on the side." The reaction of the hotel, naturally, righteously rejected our Queen Victoria! OMG! Yes, I know.

Venice Beach Boardwalk

Since we are at the beach, of course, we can't help but walk on the beach. You can stroll around on the small commodity street, basically similar to the souvenir shops you see in scenic spots in China. The difference may be that we can buy marijuana for legitimate reasons...
