Xila Temple, Los Angeles

I don't know much about Buddhist teachings, but I like the peaceful atmosphere of the temple. I often accompany my elders to temples in China to pray for blessings. When I come to the United States, I have no chance. I always feel that there is a lack of rituals during the festival. I always know that there is a famous Xilai Temple on the east side of Los Angeles. I finally went there once this year during the Chinese New Year. Not only did I find inncer peace, I also loved Su Zhai and the tea room in the temple, haha! (Not much to explain the nature of the food)

The name of Xilai Temple comes from the saying "Great Buddhadharma Coming West" (Great Buddhadharma Coming West). It is the American branch of the Fo Guang Shan Temple in Taiwan. It was established in 1988 by the renowned master Hsing Yun at home and abroad. It is the largest Buddhist temple in the United States and the Western Hemisphere. The current abbot is Master Huidong.Singer Li Na, who is famous for her song "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau", was born in Xilai Temple earlier. The whole temple is built on a hill, standing on the gate and looking down, everyone can understand without explaining what Feng Shui is! !

The last time I went to catch up with the Chinese New Year, there are many lanterns in the temple. The most popular one is the gold leaf tree in the upper right corner. When I went, the golden branches were already covered with various red stripes. Because Xilai Temple is a Taiwan-style temple, many decorative elements in the hall are lovely, which is very different from the solemn and serious style in China. (Pictures from the network)

When I first went in the morning, the sky was still cloudy.Near noon, the sun finally came out of the clouds, shimmering the golden decorations of Xilai Temple.I saw the people around me throwing coins into the pool next to the Eighteen Arhats. I thought it would be so easy, I will come too!Later I found out that I had misunderstood. There was a small bell hanging in the place where the photo was not taken. In fact, everyone was ringing the bell with coins, praying for good luck...

The temple is almost the same. As a foodie, you can't forget to eat it! The vegetarian meal at Xilai Temple is burned by volunteers. The price is around RMB 7 or 8 (cash only). The buffet is free for everyone to eat and is open to the public only at noon. Honestly, I was worried that the vegetarian food would not be full. I did not expect that his family's fast food is very rich and delicious. In addition to the soup, there are several kinds of fruits. Unlike ordinary vegetarian restaurants, the fast food in the temple does not imitate meat, mushrooms are mushrooms, and pumpkins are pumpkins.

I will take you to the outside of Zhaitang, there is a sentence to explain: Do n’t waste food in the temple! I took chow mein, rice, Qingjiang dish, curry potatoes and carrots in the first round. The shortbread was very amazing and it was soaked in curry sauce. It was wonderful. (Why say the first round? Because I started to take too little, and later I ate two more dishes, how can I tell everyone ?!) I still have 4-5 kinds of vegetables to choose from, and there are oranges and fruits on the day. Apple and volunteers have cut it for everyone. The soup is the ordinary cabbage soup. Compared to me, I prefer hot tea, which is sweet and delicious.

Secretly speaking, evening fasts are generally not open to the public, but what if you want to eat the most authentic fast food and miss lunch time? The last time I went with many friends who studied Buddhism, we had a great conversation with the masters. When it was time for dinner, the teacher not only invited us to attend the subsequent puja, but also invited us to eat vegetarian dishes. Therefore, friends who are destined and willing to talk to the masters will be very rewarding.

Xilai Temple has two tea rooms, one is located near Zhaitang, the environment is good, tea is charged. The other one provided free tea, I forgot the name, but it was easy to find. This tea room is actually more suitable to describe the lounge. In addition to providing tea, there are various Buddhist books that can be read. During the new year, there are a few people, so you can sit back and relax. Oh, by the way, there is wifi in it, it's amazing.

I heard that there is French in the temple (think too much, not French), but this is not the same as fortune telling. Everyone can donate 1 knife to get a ball containing French, and take it to the temple inside. A dedicated master will explain it to you. In fact, French is not difficult to understand, and chatting with the master is quite interesting.

Domestic temples pray for peace, and there are still a lot of ¥¥¥ to spend. I do n’t like it, and I even hate it. The feeling of $$ in Xilai Temple is much lower. First of all, the incense in the temple is free. Everyone can get the incense on their own. Just one temple and one Buddha per person.

I asked for a bright light that prayed for the whole family. It was about $ 15 (trumpet), or I lighted it on the shelf in the front row of Daxiongbao Hall. It feels too valuable. Unfortunately, I do n’t have enough cash on the day. Opening peace sign.

Finally, take a photo to commemorate the year of the horse decoration that has been removed. By the way, Xilai Temple has many interesting activities. Friends who are interested in Buddhism must not miss them, such as tea zen, singing competition (it is really a Taiwanese fan), health checkup, etc
