Retro Brunch-Alcove Cafe in the Los Angeles Arts District

Alcove Cafe & Bakery is located in the center of Los Feliz, Los Feliz, the two oldest houses in Los Feliz (built in 1897 and 1916 respectively).Outside the house, a low wall made of red bricks forms a yard. The yard is full of plants and has many retro small ornaments.Walking into the house, the whole person will be cheerful. The warm interior decoration makes you feel that you are not going out to eat brunch, but to visit a familiar old friend's house. Brunch has a wide variety of menus, including omelette, benedict, sandwich, and crepes.

Smoked Salmon Breakfast Stack [/ caption] The author chose Smoked Salmon Benedict recommended by a friend. Smoked salmon and tender poached eggs are stacked on top of potato pancake, and topped with fresh French cream. Take a bite and it's amazing. The difference between French whipped cream and American cream is that the French style is slightly fermented and has a high consistency. I also want to particularly praise the smoked salmon from Alcove. The fish is very soft, the taste is mild (just right for me), and it feels very fresh.

Crab Cake Benedict [/ caption] The Crab Cake Benedict chosen by my friends is also a brunch item with a high order rate. The menu introduces that crab cake uses Maryland blue crabs (I once lived in Maryland could not believe my eyes when I saw Maryland Blue Crab). Crab cake is served with spinach, chives, and dutch sauce, stacked on top of British muffin. Crab cake took a bite and was full of teeth. The only drawback was that the muffin was too thick.

Fruit Nutella Crepes Alcove's crepes are soft and refreshing. The sweetness of chocolate and sauce is just right.

Tiramisu[/caption] Alcove’s desserts have always been well received, but there was no dessert menu at the time of brunch.but!Yes!The enthusiastic ordering waiter took us to the dessert counter and introduced us to each dessert one by one.In the end we chose Tiramisu. We can also feel the style of Alcove's homemade home from the above Tiramisu's "willful" shape.Although I can't bear to look directly at it, the taste and texture are still great. The following words: Although Alcove is an American brunch, it incorporates many French practices. For example, their omelets use custardy French perfection to create a French custard texture, instead of the general dry American style.Regarding the queuing, the author and my friends went there at 8 o'clock in the morning on the weekend. There was no queue to wait, and there were half of the seats. Some friends go at 11 o'clock on weekends, and they probably need to wait in line for about 15 minutes.Special thanks to @Louis and @一个Vitality Moda for their support of this article.
